AFCON 2025: CAF removes Guinea as host country

Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday, announced the removal of Guinea as the AFCON 2025 hosts.

It would be recalled that the football body had on November 30 201, announced Guinea as the hosts for the 2022 AFCON hosts but the decision has now been revoked after CAF's Executive Committee approved the decision to strip Guinea of the hosting rights.

According to CAF, Guinea would not be ready to handle hosting the tournament by the time frame billed for the tournament which is to happen in the summer of 2025.

A report from CAF reads: "The Executive Committee was unanimous the Guinea will not be ready to host the competition."

"The President suggested that a delegation be sent to Guinea to inform them of the decision taken by EXCO."

"Resolution: The Executive Committee resolved to send a delegation to Guinea to inform them of CAF's decision to withdraw the Africa Cup of Nations Gunea 2025 from Guinea," CAF noted in a release made available to the media.
