AFCON: Okoye eyes another clean sheet against Sudan

Maduka Okoye is looking forward to helping his side earn three points and a clean sheet when the Super Eagles face Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane in their second group D match at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon tomorrow.

The Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper had a dream AFCON debut, recording a clean sheet as he shut-out Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and his Pharaohs teammates in Nigeria win over Egypt on Tuesday with one of the major highlights of the game being when the 22-year-old denied Salah in a one-on-one situation in the second half.

"Well. I am very happy to get the clean sheet on Tuesday,” he said. “First of all I am looking forward to another three points, a clean sheet is always good, it is a sign of good defending and compact teamwork. “We have placed ourselves on a high pedestal. We have to put it in our minds that this is just the first game. We still have six more games to go to win the cup.”
