Aubameyang left out of Arsenal's Dubai trip

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left out of the Arsenal squad for the club’s winter training trip to Dubai.

The striker, 32, has not played for Arsenal since December after being dropped by head coach Mikel Arteta for a disciplinary breach.

He was stripped of the captaincy and made to train by himself — away from the first team at Arsenal — after being excluded from selection. The Athletic reported he was unlikely to travel to Dubai on Monday, with Jack Wilshere, who is training with Arsenal, expected to be part of the group.

Gabon also sent him home early from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a bout of COVID-19 raised concerns over his heart, which was later deemed “completely healthy” by tests at Arsenal.

Arsenal are understood to have received an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal to take the striker on loan with an option to buy and cover his full salary. There is interest from sides in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, but Aubameyang’s wages are likely to be a problem for all of them.

Aubameyang has scored seven goals in 15 games across all competitions this season and 92 in 163 appearances since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.
