Barca to offload seven players after preseason tour

Barcelona will reportedly offload seven players in a bid to free up space on their wage bill and to accommodate the new signings and register them successfully before the new season kicks off.

The Catalans have already gotten rid of Rey Manaj, Moussa Wague, Francisco Trincao and Clement Lenglet, but there are plenty of other unwanted players who need to be shown the doors at the earliest.

Spanish media outlet, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona will focus on massive exits for as many as seven players once they return from their pre-season tour of the USA.

Of the seven players, five are those who had been left out of the pre-season tour – Riqui Puig, Martin Braithwaite, Neto, Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza.

Among the quintet, Mingueza has been attracting serious interest and could soon depart as Barça has been said to have decided to lower his price tag.

Neto has also been monitored by Napoli and Fulham and could soon find his way out of Camp Nou, clearing the pathway for Inaki Pena to become the second-choice goalkeeper at Barcelona.

The club however, is on the lookout for suitors for the trio of Umtiti, Braithwaite and Puig, particularly for the French defender, whose move to France recently collapsed.

Apart from the aforementioned players, Barcelona will also look to offload Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay, with reports claiming that the Dutch duo’s exit will be key to clearing a lot of space on the wage bill.

Manchester United has kept tabs on De Jong, but the Dutch youngster has refused to leave the club. As for Depay, he is more open to an exit, amidst interest from clubs in England and Italy.

It remains to be seen how successful Barça are in their efforts to get the unwanted players off the books.
