Bucks take 1-0 lead over Celtics in Eastern Conference semis
The Milwaukee Bucks took a 1-0 lead against the Celtics in their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup, going into Boston and cruising to a 101-89 victory.
Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with a triple-double — 24 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists — while Jrue Holiday added 25 points and 10 rebounds. The Bucks thrived on the fast break — 28 points compared to just eight points from Boston — as well as in the paint (34 to 20).
Jayson Tatum’s 21 points led the way for Boston in the loss. Bucks wing Khris Middleton missed Game 1 with a left knee MCL sprain and is expected to miss the series. Celtics guard and Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart left the game for the locker room just before halftime with a right shoulder stinger and right quad contusion but he returned and played through the pain.
Boston coach Ime Udoka said Smart is "getting iced down now and I'm assuming he'll be OK ... He'll play through it."
Game 2 of the series is Tuesday night in Boston.
