Chelsea star tests positive for COVID-19
Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour has tested positive for COVID-19, the Scotland Football Association can confirm.
Gilmour was voted as the UEFA Star of the match after his impressive debut for the Scotland team in their UEFA EURO 2020 clash against the Three Lions of England in London. The positive test result means the 20-year-old will miss the crucial final group match against Croatia
According to a statement by the Scotland national team, “We can confirm that Billy Gilmour has tested positive for COVID-19. Having liaised with Public Health England, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s UEFA EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.”
Scotland must beat Croatia in order to reach the round of 16 as anything less would send them packing from the tournament. And even with qualification, Gilmour would be a doubt to feature again in Euros unless Scotland make it to the quarter-final stage.
