Five Man United players to miss Liverpool clash

Ralf Rangnick has said Manchester United are expected to be without five first-team players for his side's trip to Liverpool.

Fred, Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw and Edinson Cavani all missed United's 3-2 win over Norwich City and Rangnick has said they are unlikely to feature at Anfield.

Varane appears to be the most likely to return out of the five players but the Frenchman has only managed to train with fitness coaches rather than alongside his teammates.

Rangnick, speaking to reporters ahead of Tuesday night's game, said: “He (Varane) was on the pitch with one of our rehab coaches. With regard to the injured players, it's the same situation.”

Manchester United's interim manager also spoke of his admiration for his compatriot Jurgen Klopp.

“He (Jurgen Klopp) is one of the best, if not the best coach,” added Rangnick. “Not only now, but in the last couple of years.

“It is no coincidence what has happened. They brought in the right players and got rid of the right players. That is why they are where they are.”

Manchester United are three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur while Liverpool will go top of the Premier League table if they can claim at least a point against their rivals.
