Iheanacho to miss Europa League clash with Legia Warsaw
Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho will miss Leicester City’s second Europa League match against Legia Warsaw, because of an issue with the travel documents.
The 24-year-old Nigerian was denied entry into Poland by the Polish authorities, after noticing a discrepancy in the details on his paperwork when compared alongside his passport. Iheanacho has now been detained at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport and will play no part in their Europa League match.
Leicester will be without Wilfred Ndidi, who got a red card in their opening match against Napoli, now his compatriot, Kelechi Iheanacho will also miss the match due to problems with his travel documents.
Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers now confirmed that the Nigerian striker will miss the match. He said: “We’ve had an issue with Kelechi so his documentation coming into the country wouldn’t suffice.”
He continued that the Nigerian will not be available tonight, saying: “Unfortunately he’s not available to play which is a shame because he would have played in the game. The paperwork didn’t allow him to enter the country, which is unfortunate. We’ll have to look at that when we get back.”
