Iwuala leaves Enyimba FC to join Esperance De Tunis
Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive De Tunis have confirmed the signing of Anayo Iwuala from Enyimba FC of the Nigerian Professional League, NPFL.
The 22-year-old winger who began his career at Kada City signed a deal reportedly worth $500,000 over three years with the Tunisian club. He is also expected to earn about $10,000 weekly.
Esperance announced the transfer on its verified Twitter page on Monday. “It’s done for Emmanuel Anayo Iwuala. He is now [Blood and Gold] until June 2024. Welcome!” the tweet read, accompanied by a picture of the player posed in the club’s jersey.
The Lagos-born star was widely considered as one of the best players in the just-concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
He joined up with Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles side in March and made his debut as a substitute in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho. He also featured in the international friendly against Cameroon in June and against Mexico last month.
