Lateefat Tijani bags gold as Ogun records 13 medals on day four of the 2022 National Sports Festival
Ogun State Paralympian, Latifat Tijani has bagged a gold medal in the para-powerlifting event of the ongoing 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba.
The Tokyo Olympic Gold Medalist justified her rating at the festival, clinching the ultimate medal on the evening of Friday, ahead of an athlete from Edo State who got the silver medal.
Meanwhile, after four days of action at the biennial sports competition, the contingent from Ogun State have amassed a total of 13 medals in five games which includes one gold and silver in the cycling and darts events respectively.
Ogun State's only gold from the para-powerlifting event was from Latifat Tijani while Africa's top rated para table tennis player, Isau Ogunkunle alongside Olaitan Kafayat, Popoola Mariam and Adebowale Janet all secured the state's seven medals of 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze in the para table tennis event.
The state's only medal from the Scrabble event has been 1 silver with expectations that it gets better for the contingents of the Gateway state in the coming days.
