Maguire to miss Man United clash with Wolves due to injury
Harry Maguire is out injured for Manchester United's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The United captain played every minute of the win over Burnley on December 30 but has picked up a problem, leaving Ralf Rangnick short of centre-back options with Victor Lindelof still trying to recover from COVID-19.
Eric Bailly came off after 66 minutes against Burnley suffering what appeared to be a tight hamstring, placing his fitness in doubt and bringing Phil Jones into contention for his first Premier League appearance in two years.
However, sources have told The Athletic that Bailly has a chance to play, despite not being seen at the team hotel on Sunday evening. Maguire was also absent from the squad gathering at United's Lowry base and it is yet to be determined how long his spell on the sidelines will be.
Jones has impressed Rangnick in training but can count only two under-23s games this season for match sharpness. Nemanja Matic offers an auxiliary alternative.
Raphael Varane was rested for the visit of Burnley after featuring three days prior at Newcastle following two months out, although he came off the bench for Bailly. It is thought Rangnick will leave it late to decide on Varane's partner in central defence for the Wolves contest.
