Martial to join Sevilla on loan from Manchester United
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Sevilla to sign Anthony Martial on loan until the end of the season. There will be no fee, but Sevilla will cover the Frenchman's wages. The deal is subject to Martial completing a medical.
Martial, 26, informed interim manager Ralf Rangnick that he wanted to leave the club in December.
United rejected Sevilla’s first offer last month when the Spanish club offered to pay half of Martial’s £240,000 weekly wages. Talks have remained ongoing with Sevilla however, and a breakthrough came when the loan fee was incorporated into Martial’s wages, which Sevilla are covering in full.”
Martial plans to fly to Sevilla with his agent Philippe Lamboley on Tuesday to complete the deal.
The French winger has only made seven appearances for United this season and made his first appearance since Rangnick took over in late November as a substitute against West Ham on Saturday.
He became the most expensive teenager in football when United signed him from Monaco in September 2015. The £36 million fee — which included add-ons taking the potential value of the transfer to £58 million — made him United’s third most expensive signing at the time after Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata.
