NFF to meet with IMC, critical stakeholders ahead of new NPFL season

The Nigeria Football Federation will on Thursday meet with the club owners/managers of the NPFL clubs, the league's Interim Management Committee, IMC clubs, and the Nigeria Referee Association, NRA as part of the preparations for the commencement of the league.

This was confirmed in a letter of invitation signed by the head of operations of the IMC, Davidson Owunmi which was sighted reporters in which the IMC conveyed the message of the President, Ibrahim Gusau to the different stakeholders.

The letter reads in part: "In preparation for the commencement of the 2022/2023 NPFL season, I wish to notify you of the scheduled meeting of the Nigeria Football Federation President " wrote Davidson Owumi.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday in Abuja by 2pm.

Though no Agenda was specified in the letter of invitation but it is understood that the sharp disagreement between the majority of the club owners and the IMC will take the front burner as the parties will seek to find a meeting point on time before the scheduled Sunday 8th January Kick-off.

It would be recalled that about 16 clubs have vowed not to play in the abridged league while the IMC isn't proceeding with clubs that are willing to play in the league.

Meanwhile the IMC has concluded plans to disburse the 10 million naira take-off grant to the clubs as the league kicks off on Sunday.

In a release by IMC, the ceremony will take place on Thursday and the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau will be in attendance to address the stakeholders with all the 20 clubs chairmen/ representatives in attendance including the leadership of the Nigeria Referees Association.
