NPFL: Imama Amapakabor exits Abia Warriors
Imama Amapakabo has left his role as the head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Abia Warriors after the expiration of his contract.
Amapakabo, whose contract at the club lapsed on July 31, joined the club two years ago and struggled to make impact with the Umuahia based club.
He however helped Abia Warriors survive relegation on the final day of last season with a 3-nil win against Lobi Stars.
He left the club on Sunday after they crashed out of the 2022 Aiteo Cup, following a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria National League side Ottasolo FC.
A statement on the club’s website read, “The management of Abia Warriors Football Club has announced that it has parted ways with coach Imama Amapakabo after the expiration of his two-year contract. The club also thanks him for the services rendered and wishes him well in his future assignment.”
In 2016, Amapakabo helped Rangers win the NPFL title despite being one of the youngest head coaches in the league.
