Osimhen's late strike earns Napoli vital win at Roma

A late Victor Osimhen strike secured a famous win for Napoli over rivals Roma, while equalling Azzurri's best-ever winning streak of 11 matches across all competitions.

No side in Europe's top-five leagues has had more goalscorers than Napoli this season (15), but when the inevitable opener came nine minutes from time, it was the familiar figure of Osimhen peeling off in celebration.

Rifling a right-footed strike into the top left corner, the Nigerian international's fifth goal of the campaign ensured the three points would head back to Naples, while reaffirming the visitors' tag as serious title contenders.

Only once since 1930 have Napoli ever won 11 consecutive fixtures across all competitions, with the late Osimhen goal ensuring this dazzling Azurri run continues.

Roma, who missed the chance to win four Serie A games in a row for the first time under José Mourinho, remains fifth in the table, an ever-growing seven points behind leaders Napoli.
