Ozil dropped from the Fernabache squad
Mesut Ozil has been dropped from the Fenerbahce squad.
The former Arsenal midfielder has spent the last year in Turkey with the Istanbul-based club. He has helped them to third in the Turkish Super Lig.
However, a statement from Fenerbahce has now said he has been "excluded" from the squad, along with Ozan Tufan, who spent last season on loan at Watford.
The statement read: "Our Football A-Team players Mesut Ozil and Ozan Tufan have been excluded from the squad as per the decision taken."
Ozil spent seven weeks on the sidelines after picking up an injury in mid-January after the game against Altay.
He then returned to the squad for Fenerbahce's most recent games against Konyaspor, Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor. Ozil started against Konyaspor and Alanyaspor, with Fenerbahce winning both.
Former Germany international Ozil joined Fenerbahce in January 2021 after an eight-year spell with Arsenal.
Fenerbahce's next game is on April 2 against Kayserispor.
