Six Chelsea players could miss Premier League clash with Watford
Six players of Chelsea football club may miss the Premier League clash against Watford as the European champions aim to cement their position at the top of the table.
Reece James, Jorginho and Timo Werner are doubts for Chelsea ahead of the game against Watford on Wednesday night while Chilwell, Kante, and Kovacic are ruled out of the clash.
James, Jorginho, and Werner all featured in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Sunday but now need examinations ahead of the match at Vicarage Road.
Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku had been sidelined by injury in recent weeks but made his return from the bench against his former side, Manchester United on Sunday. Lukaku has not had a reaction to his return to action after his spell on the sidelines that followed his ankle injury.
Asked about the fitness situation at Chelsea, Tuchel said: “With Romelu it’s easy. He came on (against United) and has continued to train. There has been no reaction from his injured ankle so he stayed in training and is ready to progress in minutes."
When asked who would be out, Tuchel replied: “For sure Chilwell, Kovacic and N’Golo. We have some players who are doubts, maybe we need a bit more time, more examinations to reevaluate the status.
“It’s Reece James, Jorginho and Timo Werner. They all trained with us. There will be some last-minute decisions about the three.”
Chelsea are top of the Premier League, a point clear of Manchester City in second.
