Spence Jr., Yordenis Ugas to face off for the welterweight title

Errol Spence Jr. will take his undefeated record into a fight against Yordenis Ugas for the unified welterweight title on April 16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, he said on Tuesday.

Spence, the WBC and IBF welterweight champion, has not fought since beating Danny Garcia by unanimous decision on Dec. 5, 2020. He was supposed to face Manny Pacquiao last August but withdrew after suffering a retinal tear in his left eye.

Ugas replaced Spence and defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision, retaining his WBA welterweight title.

Spence, who turns 32 on March 3, is 27-0 all time with 21 knockouts. Ugas is 27-4 with 12 knockouts. He has won his last four fights since losing to Shawn Porter in March 2019.
